James City County raccoon tests positive for rabies

The Peninsula Health District has announced that a raccoon tested positive for rabies in James City County. It was found in the 3100 block of Maplewood Place.

Anyone who may have been bitten or scratched by the raccoon or who may have come in contact with its saliva by eyes, nose, mouth or open wound should contact the Williamsburg Area Environmental Health office of the Peninsula Health District at 253-4813. After hours, contact Animal Control at 253-1800.
