Samantha Casey ’10 places third at Miss USA

College of William and Mary student Samantha Casey ’10 was named the second runner-up at the 2010 Miss USA pageant Sunday.

Casey placed third overall out of the field of 51 contestants at the pageant, held at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The Jeffersonton, Va. native had earlier won the Miss Virginia USA in November 2009. Additionally, Casey won the 2006 Miss Teen Virginia pageant, going on to place as the third runner-up in the Miss Teen USA pageant.

To prepare for the Miss Virginia pageant, Casey took the Fall 2009 semester off from the College. After winning a place in the Miss USA pageant, she also took off the Spring 2010 semester.

During her time at the College, Casey was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and Love146, an organization that seeks to prevent child sex-trafficking.
