The fundamentalist Westboro Baptist Church has announced plans to protest the funeral of Lt. Todd Weaver ’08, who was killed in Afghanistan Sept. 9.

The Kansas-based church announced their Saturday demonstration through the church’s website.

The church, which consists mainly of the family and friends of its leader, Rev. Fred Phelps, has gained notoriety for protesting homosexuality at the funerals of American soldiers.

Weaver will be interred with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery Oct. 14.
