Football: Tribe earns No. 2 playoff seed

After trouncing Richmond 41-3, the College (8-3, 6-2) earned the No. 2 seed in the 2011 FCS Tournament.

In the new 20 team format, the Tribe will have a first round bye before hosting the winner of Saturday’s first round matchup between Georgia Southern (7-4) and South Carolina State (9-2) on Dec. 4.

Perennial power Appalachian State garnered the top seed, while No. 3 Delaware and No. 4 Montana State rounded out the top four.

Four CAA squads made the tournament, including No. 3 Delaware, Villanova, New Hampshire, and the College. Of those four, all but one, Villanova, is on the College’s side of the bracket.

If the Tribe wins its first and second round matchups, it would host the FCS National Semifinal Game for the first time since 2004.
