According to the Los Angeles Times, Stephen Colbert took the time off to care for his mother, who is 91 years old and in frail health. “My family and I would like to thank everyone who has offered their thoughts and prayers. We are grateful and touched by your concern,” Colbert said in a tweet to his fans.
