    Before plunging headfirst in the world of campus food I feel the need to explain myself. In an age where the Food Network had become appointment television and supermarkets now stock many ingredients that up until a few years ago were rarely found outside of specialty markets, everyone is a “foodie.” As someone who has been cooking professionally for upwards of five years I have always resented this label. It’s a name for someone that likes to bitch about food, but can’t cook.

    Greetings, readers. The Daily Grind is back and eager to start off the year with a bang! Our pencils are sharpened (yum), our erasures are fresh (double yum) – let’s get down to business.

    For those of you new to the College or otherwise not in the know, the Daily Grind is the Flat Hat’s sex blog. We know sex is a thing us young folks just luuvv to talk about, so why not do it in a smart, funny, educational way?

    Well it’s been eight months and 21 days since William and Mary last took the field on a frigid Philadelphia night last December, and there are only 3 more until the squad does so again. Saturday at 3:30 p.m. is the time for which Tribe fans have been waiting, at which point the 2010 season will kick off against Massachusetts. Here are a few, quick points to tide you over until the weekend.

    Meme of the Week chronicles one meme per week that I, the almost too-literate author of this column, believe truly stood prouder and abover than its meme-peers. If you do not know what a meme is, and are now frustrated that you’ve seen the word used literally one thousand times in the post already, then I pity you from my high and ivory tower of internet knowledge. I would drop a rock on your head from this great height to put you out of your misery, but there are no rocks up here and I don’t feel like climbing all the way down to your level just to find one.

    As much as they tried to negate the good deeds done during Tuesday night, Your Student Assembly actually accomplished something during a two and half hour meeting marred by petty disputes, closed session and a certain senator’s obvious inability to open his mouth for no less than 13 minutes at a time.

    The Student Handbook Response Act and the Equal Voices Act, both passed, address the significant and unfortunate changes made to the student handbook over the summer.
