Wednesday, Feb. 9 to Friday, Feb. 11, the board of visitors of the College of William and Mary met in the Blow Memorial Hall and the Alan B. Miller Hall to discuss matters pertaining to the administration of the College ahead of Charter Day. While apart from increasing funding for the Muscarelle Museum of Art at the Martha Wren Briggs Center for the Visual Arts, heard reports from board liaisons and discussing other matters of the College, the board did not make many drastic decisions this session, but College Rector Charles E. Poston J.D. ’74, P ’02, ’06 remarked that the board took preparations for a busier April session.

SJP hosts Sadler walkout with various student groups

Thursday, Feb. 8, Students for Justice in Palestine organized “Walkout for Palestine at W&M” with various student groups, including the Black Student Organization, Jewish Voices for Peace and the Asian American Student Initiative at the Sadler Terrace. The event was aimed at voicing student support for Palestine, following the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

Thursday, Feb. 15, the Global Research Institute hosted a keynote discussion titled “How Should the United States Respond to China's Rise?” in the Alan B. Miller Hall. The speakers, James T. Shotwell Professor of International Relations Thomas J. Christensen at Columbia University, International Crisis Group Senior Researcher Ali Wyne and Editor-in-Chief of The Diplomat Shannon Tiezzi ’09, discussed China’s emergence and the United States’ response to the phenomenon.
