“With Good Reason’s” interview with religious studies professor Marc Lee Raphael about personal identities will air on public radio until March 12.
Raphael talks about how our identities are formed by a narrative that we construct about ourselves that is part fiction and part fact.
Raphael recently wrote a book, entitled “Diary of a Los Angeles Jew, 1947-1972: Autobiography as Autofiction.” He explains that, in his autobiography, the facts of his identity are his diary entries, and the fiction is how he interprets those facts 30 years later.
