Following a successful 2009 campaign, the College and its 12 returning starters are earning several preseason honors, including a No.1 preseason ranking in one poll.
As the college football season draws nearer, a flurry of preseason rankings have been released this week, all of which consider the Tribe a top-five team.
The Tribe earned the No. 1 ranking in Phil Steele’s 2010 FCS Preseason Rankings and was also ranked No. 4 by Any Given Saturday’s Preseason Rankings and No. 5 by ATHLON’s Preseason Rankings.
The Steele Poll is the only one that features the College as the nation’s top team. It is also the only poll that ranks the Tribe above CAA rival and defending national champion Villanova.
In addition to the team’s collective preseason winnings, several Tribe players have earned preseason All-American honors. Phil Steele named a pair of Tribe juniors to his list of second-team preseason list of All-Americans in tailback Jonathan Grimes and linebacker Jake Trantin.
