Police identify suspect in Second Street shooting

Monday, April 9, the Williamsburg Police Department responded to a shooting at approximately 11:35 p.m. at a hotel on the 300 block of Second Street.

Officers who responded to the scene spoke with a witness who said that during an argument, the suspect shot the victim and then fled. Police located and spoke with the victim, who had been hit in the arm and was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center for his injuries.

Early the next morning, at approximately 8:25 a.m., the James City County Police Department identified 38-year-old Antonio Jimmison of James City County as the suspect and took him into custody.

Jimmison was charged with three felony offenses of aggravated assault, brandishing a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is now at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
