William and Mary has been announced as the No. 1 seed for the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association Championship. Like the 2016 championship, the competition will take place in Elon, North Carolina at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
The College is going into the CAA Championship with a flawless 2-0 conference record on top of going 11-10 overall this season. While it has not yet challenged first-round opponent Delaware this season, the Tribe barely bested Elon, the host and No. 2 seed in the championship, 4-3 Jan. 26 and dominated James Madison in a 7-0 washout March 17.
Friday, April 20, the College will face off against No. 8 Delaware in the quarterfinals at 9 a.m. The winner of this match will go on to play either No. 4 James Madison or No. 5 Drexel in the semifinals Saturday, April 21 at 10 a.m. The championship will take place at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 22. The Tribe’s last CAA Championship victory was in 2015, and it is looking forward to compete for a bid to the National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament.
