Here’s “a link to a great interview”:http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=4536 with College Professor Larry Wilkerson conducted by my former employer, Foreign Policy magazine. (Also see The Flat Hat’s “Tuesday article”:https://www.flathatnews.com/content/69144/colin-powells-former-chief-staff-now-college-prof-goes-obama on Wilkerson).
Wilkerson, who was Colin Powell’s Chief of Staff when Powell was Secretary of State, points out that Obama’s stances on foreign policy have been solid, despite his reluctance to address Cuba-US relations and other problems.
McCain, on the other hand, continues to surround himself with Wolfowitz/Perle types, the same idiots who led the country down such a disastrous path over the past eight years.
Wilkerson sums it up pretty nicely:
“Calling them conservatives offends the title. I have grave difficulty with McCain taking advice from these people. I am concerned with his inability to accept that we have to leave Iraq. Victory is not coming home with trumpets blaring; it is leaving a relatively stable government in place that won’t fall in first five minutes and not resort to civil war. He still thinks that victory was possible in my war, Vietnam, which I know was not correct. Those kinds of things concern me.”
With all of McCain’s experience, how can we not question why he takes advice from these people?
