Undergrad team wins tax challenge

The undergraduate team from the Mason School of Business at the College of William and Mary won first place for an unprecedented 10th time in the National Deloitte Tax Case Challenge. The team has participated in the challenge for 15 years, and is now first among all teams in victories. This year’s team members include Joseph Allen ’09, Ryan Forester ’09, Donald Holzinger ’09 and Grant Van Kirk ’09.

The competition took place from Nov. 21 — 23 in Orlando, Fla. In the competition, teams analyzed information, identified data issues and considered alternative tax treatments for a fictitious client situation in order to complete a complex theoretical case study within a five-hour time limit.
