The Flat Hat caught up with junior Lauren Sabacinski, who after a successful 13-3 sophomore season two years ago, is back with the Tribe this year after an ACL injury prevented her from competing last season.
Pump-up music:
I have a whole playlist that I go through before matches. If I had to choose one song, it would be “Bleed It Out” by Linkin Park.
Comedian on the team:
Carmen [Pop, senior]. She is just goofy all the time. She mixes up sayings. Instead of saying “Whatever floats your boat,” she says “Whatever makes your boat float.”
Favorite TV show:
I love 24. I’ve seen every season except the third or fourth one. I’m not sure.
Favorite event at the College:
The thing with the fireworks. [FH: The illumination?] Yes! I love the fireworks and it’s near Christmas so it makes me happy.
Memorable collegiate victory:
Beating (no. 82) Katie Potts of Notre Dame my sophomore year at ITAs [National Indoor Championships]. She was the highest-ranked person I’ve beaten, and I happened to have the flu, bronchitis and an ear infection during that match.
