Before the 2009-2010 season is even completed, William and Mary’s 22 wins and elevated national profile are already paying off. Awaiting a likely NIT bid, the second in school history, to be announced Sunday evening, the Tribe accepted an offer Wednesday to appear in the 2010 Legends Classic preseason tournament, taking place in late November.
The event will see the College journey to take on Syracuse, Michigan, Georgia Tech or UTEP in the opening round, before hosting a two-day subregional round. The subregional will see three of Albany, Bowling Green, Gardner-Webb, Mercer, Niagara or Western Carolina traveling to Williamsburg for a pair of games at Kaplan Arena. The four opening round hosts automatically advance to the championship round in Atlantic City, N.J., regardless of results.
The Tribe last appeared in a preseason tournament in 2008, appearing in the Liberty Thanksgiving Tournament in Lynchburg, Va.
