According to the Richmond Times Dispatch alcohol sales at Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control retail stores have increased over the past year since 130 stores have opened for business on Sundays due to a recent law. Sales for all stores totaled $243 million by the end of October, which is a $9 million dollar increase from last year. The surge in sales was expected as the law was put in place by the Virginia General Assembly for the purpose of revenue increases.
