Women’s Gymnastics: College finishes fourth in University of Maryland quad meet

After earning the seventh-best score in program history and its best this season last week at North Carolina State University, William and Mary placed fourth in a quad meet hosted by the University of Maryland Friday.

The Tribe travelled to College Park, Md., to take on Maryland, Towson and George Washington.

Senior Maggie Lundeen — who was named an Eastern College Athletic Conference Specialist of the Week last week — got the Tribe off to a strong start on the floor, posting a team-high 9.825. Graduate student Larson Lasek contributed a 9.775, bringing the College’s total score on the floor to 48.575.

Junior Brittany Stover led the way in both the vault and beam events, posting scores of 9.875 and 9.775, respectively.

Sophomore Olivia O’Connor was the Tribe’s top overall scorer, competing in all four events and posting a total score of 38.475.

Maryland and George Washington tied for first with a score of 194.925, while Towson was close behind with a 194.450. The Tribe’s fourth-place finish at 190.250 was its lowest of the season.

The Tribe travels to Ithaca, N.Y. Saturday to take on Cornell and Bridgeport. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
