Great Wolf Lodge attempts water slide world record

The College of Wiliam and Mary soon may not be the only Williamsburg institution to hold a Guinness Book world record title. Last week, Great Wolf Lodge indoor waterpark and its 10 sister locations across the country attempted to break the world record for the longest distance traveled on water slides in a 24-hour period.

According to the Daily Press, the parks accumulated 3,651 miles traveled via water slide in 24 hours; the current record is 843 miles. The Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg tallied 300 miles.

In 2009, the College broke the world record for the most people simultaneously doing Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance in one location. The title was lost after Jackson’s death to a group of more than 13,000 people who did the dance in Mexico City.

Great Wolf Lodge’s effort raised money for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America.
