The efficacy of Navy ordinance against cetacean adversaries was regrettably confirmed this week in San Diego after three dolphins died during a Navy training exercise. Scientists have not yet confirmed the cause of deaths at Silver Strand Training Complex, however examinations of the dolphins showed injuries consistent with blast trauma. “Obviously, this was a very unfortunate incident,” said Commander Greg Hicks. The purpose of the exercise was to measure the result of an underwater explosion.
