Former Deputy Attorney General to speak at Charter Day

    Former United States Deputy Attorney General James B. Comey ’82 will headline the College’s annual Charter Day ceremony Feb. 9. Comey served as the second highest ranking official in the Justice Department under former Attorney General John Ashcroft for part of President George W. Bush’s first term in office.

    “We look forward to hearing from Jim Comey, who exemplifies our cherished ideal of the citizen-lawyer,” College President Gene Nichol told William and Mary News. “His ennobling work at the highest level of law enforcement, as Deputy Attorney General under President Bush, and his commitment to the good and the just, hold a powerful example for us all.”

    p. Former Supreme Court Justice and College Chancellor Sandra Day O’Connor will also be in attendance.
