Basketball: Tribe inks four to class of 2014

With the 2009 basketball signing period opening today, William and Mary’s next freshman class is now official.

Sources within the athletic department have confirmed to the Flat Hat that Head Coach Tony Shaver has received national letters of intent from four prospects from the class of 2014. All had previously verbally committed to the College.

The signing class consists of guards Julian Boatner (Bloomington, Ind./North) and Brandon Britt (Chesapeake, Va./Atlantic Shores Christian), forward Tim Rusthoven (Chicago, Ill./Wheaton Academy) and center Fred Heldring (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier).

Boatner, Britt and Heldring are each classified as two-star recruits by Scout.com, while Rusthoven is listed as a one-star. Additionally, Britt is rated as the no. 62 point guard in this year’s signing class by ESPN, while Heldring is the no. 42 center and Rusthoven the no. 155 power forward.

I talked to Shaver earlier today and, while he could not say anything specific pending the official announcement, he was extremely excited about this signing class.

More to come later, including comments from Shaver.
