Executive education student dies in accident over break

Vice President for Student Affairs Ginger Ambler ’88 M.Ed. ’06 notified the College of William and Mary community that executive education doctoral student Kathleen Meagher died Dec. 15 in a scuba diving accident in St. Kitts and Nevis.

“This is a heartbreaking tragedy for all who knew Kathleen,” Ambler said in an email. “I know you join  me in extending our deepest sympathy to her family and friends at this most difficult time.”

Meagher was working toward a doctorate in educational leadership and was in her last semester of coursework. She had recently been awarded a scholarship through the Consortium for Research on Educational Assessment and Teaching Effectiveness conference, according to the email. She lived in Washington, DC and was the director of secondary education at Arlington Public Schools.
