Two state agencies have confirmed that the Newt Gingrich campaign is under investigation for allegedly submitting 1,500 false signatures on petitions intended to get the Republican candidate on the ballot for the upcoming Virginia primary. “We turned in 11,100 [signatures] – we needed 10,000 – 1,500 of them were by one guy who, frankly, committed fraud,” Gingrich said in a video aired originally on CNN. The Attorney General’s office is looking into the matter.
