Legislators propose a half-off tuition special

State Senator John S. Edwards (D -21) and Delegate Kaye Kory (D-38) cosponsored a bill which would give the children of full-time faculty members at Virginia colleges a 50 percent tuition break, the Virginia Gazette reported. The bill moves on to the Senate Committee on Education and Health.  The impact statement estimated that $19,068 per dependent would be required for a full four-year term at a state college. There are approximately 6,500 full time faculty members at Virginia colleges. Students who qualify for the waiver would have to maintain “satisfactory academic progress.”
