West Woods Dining Hall delayed, Commons to remain open for Fall semester

The West Woods Dining Hall will not be opening in time for the start of the fall semester, Business Affairs announced in a message to the campus community Monday, Aug. 3.

“The parties involved in the public-private partnership constructing the facility have recently notified us of ongoing work,” the statement said.

Commons Dining Hall will remain open to serve students until the West Woods Dining Hall is completed.

Marketplace, located in the Campus Center along Jamestown Road, will also temporarily open to serve lunch Monday through Friday. Commons and Marketplace will be the only all-you-care-to-eat dining options available on campus, as the Sadler Center recently transitioned into a food retail hub.

All Access dining plans will continue to allow unlimited meal swipes for Commons, and there will be expanded seating capacity and food equipment inside the dining hall for the fall semester.

Each meal plan holder will also receive an automatic one-time supplement of $100 Dining Dollars.

Marketplace and Commons will feature food options to accommodate students with special dietary needs. Grace Barbaro, the registered campus dietitian, will also be available for student consultations and menu planning.

Other campus dining options, such as Chick-fil-A on Richmond Road and Tribe Market in Commons, will remain open for the Fall semester.
